I set up shop with my friends and as we looked toward the heavens all we saw were clouds. So painting with light became the alternative. I shot these pictures back in 2008, when I was almost ink free and I had long hair !

The final steps for those who didn’t catch it were the High Pass filter to sharpen the image and curves to add that blueish tint to the image. Plus, I really like the way it turned out. I generally like the way the shot turned out. But I forgot to shut my closet door before snapping the pic, which put a damper on the final product.

I got fired from a job I’d had for 18 years. I lost my dog, I lost my best friend to lung cancer, I lost my grandma. Everything that I cared about and believed in disappeared.

The bottle of wine emptied; the photographer packed up and went home. That’s when finally, alone and naked, the four of us ladies made tender yet surprisingly innovative love until the break of dawn. But underneath my clothes, I’m always still just my own soft female flesh. Showing that side of myself didn’t change that; it didn’t make me stronger or braver or better. It gave me something else — it let me be, for a little while, vulnerable. For the most part, people have been very supportive, but I’ve lost friends because they don’t want to be there if I try it again, or they don’t want me around their children. There’s a stigma with suicide, and some people think I’m crazy or unbalanced.
